Police DepartmentIn 1955 when the Wenonah police department was established, the police force was composed of a couple officers and volunteers who were called "Special Police". Today's police department has 7 sworn officers and 2 Special Officers serving approximately 2,300 residents. Last year the police department responded to over 3000 calls for service. Along with their regular duties of providing police service to the residents of the borough, the police department is very active in the community with the programs and projects that are offered by such groups as municipal Alliance, DARE, and the Thumbs Up program. Wenonah is clearly a special place to live, and their mission at the police department is to provide quality police service to the community by promoting a safe environment through police and citizen interaction, with an emphasis on integrity, fairness and professionalism. They welcome suggestions and/or concerns from the community regarding any public safety issues and encourage you to call Chief Glenn Scheetz at the Police Department: 856-468-6262. Reminder to ALL residents: They are dispatched through the 9-1-1 system. If you need to speak with an officer immediately for a crime in progress, or to report a crime not in progress call 9-1-1. All other calls that are not a 911 emergency but need the services of the police officer on duty, you may call the Police Dispatch at 856-589-0911. |
